Here in America, we look at Memorial Day from many different perspectives.  It symbolizes the unofficial beginning of summer.  It usually includes time with family and something being cooked outside.  It means many of us get a long weekend, too, which is nice!

It seems that we lose ourselves in the non-essentials, while ignoring what really matters.  As nice as all of those sentiments are, let’s do our best to remember what this day is really about.  Our freedom took countless lives…fully dedicated to the preservation of this Union and the defense of humanity’s God-given rights.

As a man who loves Jesus, loves my family and loves this country, I cannot ignore the respect and honor due to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for my freedom.

I am truly thankful.
